Giving hope

to those affected by CHD since 2007

Originally established in 2007 as the Northern NJ Chapter of It’s My Heart, CHD Coalition is a charitable nonprofit that works to improve the quality of life for children and adults born with heart disease—also known as congenital heart defect (CHD).

As our network of families grew throughout NJ and extended into many NYC hospitals, we reformed in 2011 as the CHD Coalition with a clear mission to:

  • Unite and support the CHD community
  • Increase public awareness
  • Raise money for lifesaving medical research

We have no salaried employees on staff. Our national office and chapters are all operated by dedicated group of volunteers: Caring individuals, parents, doctors, nurses, and CHD survivors. Together, we are united to make a change for those living with CHD.

We have granted more than $1,000,000 to research programs

One thing that truly sets the CHD Coalition apart is our commitment to research. Innovative research and emerging medical technologies offer an enormous impact on the survival and long-term care of individuals affected by heart disease. Unfortunately, research specific to CHD has been seriously underfunded due to a lack of widespread national awareness.

While research offers the huge potential for improvement and prevention of CHD, programs that support the community and hospitals deliver an immediate benefit to the families and children. This is why the CHD Coalition is a very unique organization—we understand the importance of contributing to both.

To date, the CHD Coalition has granted more than $1,000,000 to carefully selected research programs led by progressive hospitals across the United States, including:
